Reading the room
There is always a plan. For Sunset Sessions, that usually means starting with space: letting the afternoon settle in and giving the music time to build as the sun drops and the beach gradually fills. This one was different. By early afternoon, people were already ready to move, so we moved with them.
That did not mean reaching for the biggest records or using everything too early. It meant lifting the energy while keeping somewhere to go when sunset became night. The crowd gave us the information; our job was to hear it.
Three DJs, one session
Coco House Bros works best when Mark Zow, Anthom and Dr. E respond to each other rather than waiting for separate turns. One DJ makes a move. The next hears where it could go. Sometimes the right answer is to continue; sometimes it is to pull things back.
The music moved through deeper house, disco, soulful and vocal moments, then increasingly physical club records. Familiar records sat beside deeper cuts. Credibility does not require making things difficult for the crowd, and familiarity only matters when it takes the floor somewhere.
Sunset is a transition
At Vaiana’s, sunset can look like the obvious climax. Musically, it is not the finish line. Daylight disappears, the temperature changes and an afternoon on the beach becomes a proper dancefloor.
By nightfall the energy did not need to be manufactured. It was already there. For eight hours the music followed the room: accessible without becoming obvious, credible without becoming exclusive. House music, played properly.
